It’s that time of year again, my sister’s birthday. As much as I love staying up ’til 10 the night before her big day, decorating the house with balloons and streamers after she goes to bed and seeing her big smiling face when she wakes up to the birthday surprise, when it comes to present time I still wish I was the one getting Barbies, American Girl dolls, and toys.
The night before her birthday, we decked the house with Justin Beiber mugshots, Happy Birthday posters, streamers, balloons and ribbons. Here’s a glimpse:
Just before going to bed, I asked my mother to wake me up before my sister came out to see the surprise so I could be a part of the pictures my mom ( who doubles as the momaratizzi on birthdays ) took and the screeching of Happy Birthday. But that was a big mistake.
Little did I know my little sister would be waking up at 7:15!!!!! ( which feels like 4:oo a.m. to a night owl like me). Once I found the strength to tumble out of bed at a more pleasant time, I was met with sounds of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Doc Mcstuffins… not my favorite tv shows, but I learned to deal, after all it was my sister’s birthday and she likes those shows. As the day passed and it was time to open presents, the yearning to have it be my birthday kicked in.
Soon, it will be my turn (my b-day is in September)! And in the meantime, I have to admit, I am having a pretty great time playing with my sister and watching her enjoy all her new goodies. She’s even sharing a few with me – but I’ll def pass on her new Justin Bieber singing toothbrush!
