Yesterday, was a HOT, rainy old gloomy day. It was too hot to go outside, so we did the usual rainy day things. We played freeze dance to really old songs, had a fashion show with all of our American Girl dolls, and made homemade magazines. We left a bit of a trail…So, just as my mom walked through the door coming home from work, I knew what was coming. “Peyton pick up your ballet shoes!!”
Or did I?
For once she told me to keep them out….. because…. I would need them.
What? I gave her a puzzled look. She gave me the news I have been (impatiently) waiting for since early June. I MADE THE KIDS DANCE COMPANY!!!!!!!!
What do you think I did? Give my mother a wide and happy smile then call to thank my dance studio? Maybe that is what I should have done but instead I did this………..
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
I gave a big loud screech that probably meant that the neighbors not only had no chance of sleeping for the night, but weren’t pleased with me.
This is what I have been working towards ever since I was two, and now, it is happening!!

I casually glanced at the email breaking the news ( okay maybe not super casually considering I said oh my gosh about fifty times). Looking reminded me that against two hundred kids who tried out, I was one of the few people made it. I’ve worked really hard to get the dance techniques down, persisted and it paid off. So now, I will remember that gloomy Thursday for more than just a rainy, but a day that changed my life!

Congratulations! You have earned this by working hard. Dance and being on stag is a natural for you. Your beautiful smile shines through from the moment you step on stage and all eyes are on you in every step you take. I am bursting with pride as your grandmother.
Congrats, Peyton! You are such a wonderful dancer!!! I hope to see one of your performances! Keep up the GREAT work!
xoxo
